Catback exhaust system 's are a very popular aftermarket performance enhancement. They generally use larger diameter pipe than the stock system. Good systems will have mandrel bent turns that allow the exhaust gas to exit with as little back pressure as possible. The mufflers included in these kits are often glasspacks, again to reduce back pressure. Some exhaust system 's are made of stainless steel to avoid rotting. There are exhaust system 's available with a Titanium tip. This is a titanium tip that gets welded on at the factory for added looks. Performance exhaust systems will increase your horse power, looks and give you confidence on or off of the track. The end of the final length of exhaust pipe where it vents to open air is called the tail pipe, generally the only visible part, often ends with just a straight or angled cut, but may include a fancy tip. The tip is usually chrome, and is often of larger pipe than the rest of the exhaust system. This produces a final reduction in pressure, as well as prevents rusting of the tips, and can be used to enhance the appearance of the car. These are the least expensive parts of the system. Today there are many manufacturers they  give you many exhaust systems to choose from. Performance manufacturers like Apexi, Bosal, Borla, Greddy, Cross, HKS, Miltek, Remus, Mongoose and many others. The front pipe or down pipe are commonly replaced with headers to increase your exhaust flow. These are also bigger diameter pipes to give you better flow and increase performance. Your exhaust system is designed specifically for your make and model, generally the side of the car that your tail pipe is on indicates the drive of the car . If the steering wheel is on the right side your exhaust systems exits on the right side or left side for left hand steering wheels, which is the most common.
